ANNIVERSARY UPDATE

We are looking forward to your participation with us during this exciting and engaging year when we recognize and honor 100 years of camping excellence for Camp Lincoln and Camp Lake Hubert. The opportunity to reconnect with thousands of alumni campers and staff is exciting. Working together, we look forward to continuing the legacy of enriching the lives of future campers and staff for generations to come.

Throughout 2009, we’ll be updating this space with news of regional reunions and visits from camp staff, plus opportunities for online chats with fellow campers and virtual ways to reconnect with friends old and new using our web site technology.

Founded in 1909 as Camp Blake, William Blake (of Blake School in Hopkins, MN) used the beautiful piece of land on Lake Hubert, now known as Camp Lincoln, as a reward for boys who did well academically at his school. Even then, the commitment to enhancing valuable relationships, developing outdoor skills and creating an appreciation of the natural world was strong.

In 1918, Camp Blake was fortunate to have Brownie Cote on its staff. It was then that Brownie developed a passion for and belief in the unique opportunities provided by a quality camp experience. In 1923, Brownie purchased the camp, changed the name to Camp Lincoln, and in 1927 opened a sister-camp across the lake, Camp Lake Hubert for Girls.

Two legendary men, Chuck Everett and Fred Rogers, joined Brownie in his mission and this trio provided the leadership for the camps for over six decades. Brownie's son, Sam, and long time camper and staff member, Bill Jones, picked up the charge in the late sixties and continue the legacy. The next generation of leadership, including Ruggs Cote (Sam's son), Andre Brewer and Laura Nolan have a youthful vision for the future while maintaining the important traditions and values that have spanned a century of time. The camps are still a Cote family operated business, but it is the family of dedicated staff and loyal campers that have created 100 years of quality camping on the shores of Lake Hubert.

Now 100 years later, Camp Lincoln and Camp Lake Hubert continue to change the lives of children and adults from all over the world. Yes, facilities and activities have certainly changed over the years…with a 56 foot climbing wall, high and low ropes courses, cabin and lodge remodels, and so many new activities….and these will continue to improve. Yet, the tradition of excellence and a focus on our core values of building community, enhancing friendships, having fun, and developing important life-skills remains at the core of its mission, and will continue, through your support, into the next century.

Plans are underway for an amazing Labor Day weekend reunion and celebration in the fall of 2009. From Friday, September 4th to Monday, September 7th, we will gather together at camp to reunite with old friends, share child-hood memories and celebrate our 100th Year in traditional summer camp style. Mark your calendar now to be a part of this special weekend as our legacy continues.

We'll be providing ongoing updates on plans, activities and even some surprises in the coming year. Please click on 100th Anniversary to update your alumni information and to send us your preliminary interest and suggestion form. Don't miss out on the news and events as we prepare for one of the most important weekends in camp's history.
