As a cornerstone of our Wilderness Program, our canoeing program focuses on teaching Campers the fundamentals of both lake and river canoeing. We have over 35 high quality, 17-foot aluminum canoes for use on trips and instruction. While at Camp, instruction is focused on teaching safety, strokes, steering and portaging, all in preparation for off-camp canoe trips in Minnesota’s many lakes and rivers.

Our location in the heart of Minnesota’s Lake Country is legendary for fishing! Spring-fed Lake Hubert is reknown for its variety of species, including sunnies, crappie, blue gill, large and small mouth bass, northern pike, walleye and catfish. Using pontoons and fishing boats, our staff and campers search out all the hot spots on the lake. We provide rods and reels and basic bait, and some campers bring their own equipment. Campers and Staff participating in this activity wear life jackets at all times while on the lake.

One of our most popular activities, sailing offers a program for all ages and experience levels. Our diversity of boats allows for a wonderfully thorough introduction to, and advancement in, the world of sailing. Our fleet consists of E-class, C-class, X-class, M-class and 420’s. Spring-fed Lake Hubert is over 1300 acres (approximately 1 mile across and 1 mile wide) and has steady winds which make for ideal instruction and racing. Campers can master the concepts of rigging, de-rigging, knots, commands, landing, docking and points of sail. As campers progress, they may get into more of the technical aspects of sailing and racing. Experienced sailors will have the opportunity to participate in our own camp-sponsored or local Regattas. The Camper to Staff ratio for this activity 6:1 and all Campers and Staff must wear life jackets.
