We offer the Midwest’s premiere outdoor climbing wall with a 56 foot vertical face and a 60 foot multiple-incline backface. With a 14 foot wide climbing surface, the wall has the ability to accommodate three climbers on each side simultaneously. Campers of all ages enjoy the challenge and self-esteem building experience that comes with conquering the climbing wall. Grips and holds are arranged in a manner that allows climbers of all levels a physical and mental growth experience, from beginners to team climbers. Participants on the climbing wall are required to wear helmets.
Nestled deep in the woods and surrounded by lakes, our camps provide a perfect habitat for many animals, plants and water life; allowing campers to monitor the behavior of the natural world that inhabits our vast 750 acre facility. Campers who choose this activity will learn to identify trees and plants (including pine, birch and various hard woods), bird watching (perhaps campers will see ducks, owls, bald eagles, hawks, blue heron or the Minnesota State Bird—the Loon). There’s also animal tracking (such as deer, foxes, porcupines, skunks, rabbits and chipmunks), water biology (go snorkeling to find fish, small shell fish, underwater plants and turtles) and even some microscope work. Campers will learn about recycling, tree planting, animal care and gardening!
Our qualified and trained staff instruct, spot and belay in all of our ropes events.
The High Ropes course is suspended 30-50 feet in the air and interlaced with a double-belay safety feature. Campers will be tested physically and mentally with a series of elements, including tests in perception. Campers and staff alike feel a true sense of accomplishment and better understanding of who they are upon the completion of the High Ropes course.
*Campers must be 12 years old to participate in the High Ropes course and all participants wear helmets and harnesses at all times.
All Campers can participate in the Low Ropes course program (one at each camp). While at Low Ropes, campers develop individual and teamwork skills while participating in various elements, such as the spiders web, 12 foot team wall, Tarzan swing, acid river and many other elements. Various elements are suspended 2-3 feet off the ground. Continuing with our commitment to safety, campers who participate in this activity must wear a helmet at all times.
To a certain degree, all of our campers participate in a wilderness program—learning to live comfortably and safely in our Northwoods environment. For those campers who are interested in furthering their outdoor skills, our wilderness area offers instruction in compass orienteering, outdoor cooking skills, wilderness safety, shelter construction, canoeing, kayaking, tenting, camping and fire building.
