Why Camp Lincoln and Camp Lake Hubert?

If you’re facing another summer of the same job at home…think again. Working at Camp is one of the most rewarding summer jobs imaginable. The impact you have on campers reflects on you and your character. The friends you make will last a lifetime.

Each summer, we ask our potential summer staff, “Why do you want to work at camp?” The answers are generally focused on “impacting the lives of kids” and “I want to do something different this summer.” However, no one seems to say, “Because I need to make a lot of money for school/books/housing etc.” It’s true, camp doesn’t pay as much as working at the mall or the local fast food place, but Camp isn’t about what you put in your bank account at the end of the summer. It’s all about what you put into your mind and your soul. Working at camp is about personal growth and development, quality relationships, overall camp community, excellence in a job well done, and, most of all, the most fun you can have in a 10-week time frame.

If you love being with children, being a mentor, acting goofy most of the time but knowing when to be serious, you enjoy the outdoors, if you’re OK with little to no privacy, and making the most amazing friendships, then camp is for you!

The relationships that you make at camp are amazing. Not only will you meet campers from all over the world, but you’ll meet staff who have the same drive, determination and experiences that you do. After 10 weeks at camp, you’ll walk away with not only a deeper sense of who you are, but also an understanding of the impact that you had on a young child’s life. At camp, we say “CFAB” (pronounced sea-fab) which stands for Camp Friends Are Best. You won’t know how true that is until you’ve left the front gates to go back home. Once you work at camp, you’ll never want to go back to anything else.

The magic of camp is contagious!

I love working at Camp Lincoln for Boys because it provides the best place in the world to have significant positive impacts on the lives of young men while simultaneously offering innumerable opportunities to grow and develop as a human being. In short, it allows you to better lives while bettering your own.”

Working at camp made me learn to have patience with others as well as myself.  I learned about so many different people and their cultures.  When I watched the campers leave, I never expected that I would have gotten so attached to them in just four weeks.  I think both staff and campers alike learn at Camp Lake Hubert you can truly be yourself.  Nobody judges you and everyone accepts you for who you are.”
