Ask any camper, staff member or alumni what they love most about Camp Lincoln and Camp Lake Hubert, and you'll hear a lot of wonderful answers — the activities, the traditions, the setting and the memories.

One area that always rises to the top is the heartfelt relationships.  It's not just the friends you make — but the deep, lasting connections formed with people, places, experiences 1and a community that feels like home.

What We Mean by Camp "Relationships"

Exploring heartfelt relationships & a lifetime of connections

Exploring heartfelt relationships & a lifetime of connections

A relationship is defined as "the way in which two or more people, ideas, or things are connected — or the state of being connected." At our Camps, relationships take many forms and becomes more than a destination. It becomes a home away from home.

  • Friendships built through shared cabins, laughter, and growing up together
  • Connections between campers and counselors who become mentors and role models
  • Bonds formed through new experiences — trying an activity for the first time, learning perseverance, and discovering confidence
  • A relationship with nature — unplugged, present, and grounded
  • And a powerful connection to the physical place of camp itself

Friendships Lasting Far Beyond Summer

Camp friendships are different

They're built without the distractions of everyday life — no phones, no screens, no outside pressures. Instead, campers share real moments: challenges, victories, routines, inside jokes and growth. They learn how to communicate, compromise, support one another and show up consistently. That's why so many camp friendships last not just for years, but for decades.

Former campers return as staff. Staff become lifelong friends. Alumni stay connected long after their summers end. Many families return generation after generation because of the people who made camp feel like their place.

A Place That Holds a Lifetime of Memories

There's something special about forming a relationship with a place — especially one that holds so many meaningful memories. Camp Lincoln and Camp Lake Hubert are places where:

  • First-time campers quickly feel they belong
  • Returning campers step back into traditions that feel familiar and grounding
  • Staff arrive ready to give back to a community that once shaped them
  • Families become part of something bigger than a single summer
  • For over a century, new campers, staff, and families have blended seamlessly with generations who came before them. That continuity creates something rare: a shared sense of belonging that spans time.

A Tradition of Connection, Tested by Time

The heart of Camp Lincoln and Camp Lake Hubert has always been about creating opportunities for quality relationships — and that commitment is time-tested.

Generations have benefited from:

  • Lifelong friendships
  • Confidence built through trusted mentorship
  • A sense of belonging that carries into adulthood
  • Memories tied to a place that always feels like home
  • These relationships don't end when summer does. They continue to shape lives, values, and connections long after campers leave the grounds.

Why It Matters

In a world that moves quickly and often feels disconnected, the relationships formed at camp matter more than ever. They remind campers that they are known, valued, and part of a community. They show children — and adults — what it feels like to truly belong. And that is why, when people talk about what they love most about Camp Lincoln and Camp Lake Hubert, they almost always come back to the same thing: The relationships — lasting, meaningful, and lifelong.
