Adventure Awaits With Awesome Activities
Camp Lincoln offers more than 40 land and water activities that cater to various interests. From exciting challenges and thrilling water sports to creative performing, visual arts, and engaging land activities, campers can explore new skills and discover hidden talents. Our activities are designed to promote physical well-being, encourage creativity, inspire resilience, and introduce a spirit of exploration in a fun and supportive environment.
Campers choose four activities during each activity block, spanning three days. At the end of three days, you get to choose again. Plus, we host Evening Cabin Activities and emphasize skill progression through time-tested awards programs, allowing campers to start as novices and work their way up through consistent practice.
Sailing
Camp Lincoln's sailing program offers classes for all levels, led by trained staff. Our fleet includes E-class, C-class, X-class, M-class, 4-2's and Pico boats, allowing campers to learn rigging, knots, and sailing commands. With Lake Hubert's steady winds, it's perfect for instruction and racing. Campers track progress through awards, advancing to technical aspects and regattas. Safety is paramount, with life jackets required for all participants.
Windsurfing
Camp Lincoln provides windsurfing opportunities for campers of all ages and skill levels. Under the guidance of trained staff, campers learn fundamental techniques like rigging and water safety, advancing to more complex skills such as tacking and jibing. Progress is tracked through an achievement-based awards system, ensuring continual improvement. Safety is paramount, with all participants required to wear life jackets.
Fishing
Camp Lincoln offers prime fishing opportunities on the picturesque Lake Hubert. Renowned for its diverse species, including Sunnies, Crappie, Bass, Pike, and Walleye, the lake provides an ideal setting for anglers of all levels. Campers learn baiting techniques and practice catch-and-release while using provided rods, reels, and bait. All participants are required to wear life jackets.
Canoeing
Our Canoeing Program focuses on teaching campers the fundamentals of both lake and river canoeing. We have a fleet of 17-feet aluminum canoes. Campers learn safety, strokes, steering, and portaging, while tracking progress with an achievement-based awards system. All campers and staff wear life jackets while participating in this activity.
Kayaking
At Camp Lincoln, we use single-person kayaks as a part of our Wilderness Program, focusing on river and lake kayaking. For the dedicated kayaker, we offer several trips to nearby rivers during the summer. Our Kayaking curriculum includes paddling, steering, capsizing, T-rescuing, sculling, seal launching, and Eskimo rolls. Our staff track the progress of each camper with an achievement-based awards system. All campers and staff wear life jackets while participating in this activity.
Waterfront
Dive into excitement with our Waterfront activities, closely monitored by American Red Cross certified staff. Run the Water Wheel, play on the floating WOB, and ride the thrilling 20-foot Water Weenie. Our Waterfront offers activities like a Polar Bear swim, snorkeling, Water Polo, Water Aerobics, Water Volleyball, Loon Jumping, free swims, and water games.
Waterskiing & Wakeboarding
Waterskiing is a very popular activity at Camp Lincoln. Our specially trained staff double as American Red Cross Lifeguards and work to teach beginning and advanced skills, while tracking progress with an achievement-based awards system. Campers learn to cross the wake, slalom, and perform proper safety hand signals. All campers and staff wear life jackets while participating in this activity.
Paddleboarding
Paddleboarding has quickly become one of the camp's most popular activities. Campers enjoy the tranquility of stand-up paddleboarding and benefit from the anaerobic core exercise. In accordance with Camp Lincoln's safety standards, all campers and staff wear life jackets while participating in this activity.
Archery
One of Camp Lincoln's most popular traditional and time-tested activities, we offer the opportunity for campers to shoot high-quality recurve bows with target-tipped arrows on ranges from 10 to 50 yards in length. Our outdoor shooting ranges provide campers of all abilities the chance to learn, develop, and perfect their skills, all of which they can track with an achievement-based awards system. Campers are always supervised while at the range, must follow an established set of range commands and safety procedures, and must demonstrate the proper use of safety equipment when shooting.
Riflery
We offer the opportunity for campers to shoot .22 caliber rifles while on our 50-foot outdoor rifle range. As with all our activities, safety is our top priority. Campers and staff wear ear protection while following established range commands and rules. Targets are placed on carriers that are pulled in and out to assure that no camper or staff member crosses the firing line at any time. Our shooting range provides campers of all abilities the chance to learn, develop, and perfect their skills, all of which they can track with an achievement-based awards system.
Horseback Riding
Camp Lincoln features its very own enclosed ring, pasture, trails through wooded pine and birch forests, and a working barn with experienced horses and an eager staff of instructors to help campers learn and enjoy this activity. Our 20+ horses are leased from a local stable for the summer. Campers will learn riding skills, how to saddle and bridle, plus all the gates of horsemanship. Plus, they will become an integral part of feeding and brushing the horses, proper horse hygiene, and barn care. Campers will work with staff to track their progress with an achievement-based awards system. For safety, campers must wear helmets, long pants and sturdy, closed-toe shoes.
Sports
On Camp Lincoln's 9-acre Athletic Field there is plenty of space for everyone. We offer a variety of sports activities which include: Basketball, Baseball, Tennis, Soccer, Lacrosse, Volleyball, Golf, Disc Golf, and Ultimate Frisbee. Our classes are taught by knowledgeable staff.
Fitness
We offer a Fitness activity for anyone looking to gain more discipline or to keep up with their workout regimen. Our Fitness classes cover aerobic and anaerobic exercise, as well as access to Camp Lincoln's weight room.
Drama
Drama classes are offered for our actors in training. Our staff lead campers in exercises that teach the fundamentals of acting and improvisation. Campers will enjoy the fun of storytelling and imaginary play.
Martial Arts
Taught by Camp Lincoln martial arts specialists, our program covers skill development in various areas including fighting stance, strikes, blocks, kicks, how to fall, forward rolls, flips, jumps, sweeps, self-defense, and the overall philosophy of the martial arts.
Crafts
Camp Lincoln offers a wide variety of crafts activities. Some of these activities include Candle Making, Drawing, Painting, Basket Weaving, Beading, and Tie-Dying. Oh, and don't overlook Printmaking, Plaster Casting, Lanyards, Pottery, Ceramics, Photography, and Batik. Campers are encouraged to explore their creativity in a welcoming and encouraging environment with the guidance of the Camp Lincoln Crafts Director.
Mountain Biking
Our Bike Shop offers bikes and helmets of all sizes, and equipment needed for repair work and tuning. Whether a beginner or a more experienced biker, we have both on-road and off-road trails to test all skill levels. Keeping with our dedication to safety, everyone who participates must wear a bike helmet and closed-toe shoes.
Guitar
From beginners to the more advanced, Camp Lincoln is a great place to work on your guitar skills! We supply several sizes of quality acoustic guitars; although, campers are welcome to bring their own guitars. Our skilled staff will teach basic techniques in a group setting, while more experienced musicians can perfect existing skills and practice advanced techniques.
Ecology
Nestled deep in the woods and surrounded by lakes, Camp Lincoln provides the perfect habitat for many animals, plants, and water life. Campers can monitor the behavior of the natural world that inhabits our vast 400-acre facility. Campers who choose this activity will learn to identify native trees, plants, and wildlife. Campers will also learn to identify native animal tracks and explore Lake Hubert's water biology.
Climbing Wall
Camp Lincoln offers the Midwest's premier outdoor climbing wall with a 56 ft vertical face and a 60 ft multiple-inclined back face. At 14 feet wide, our Climbing Wall can simultaneously accommodate three climbers on each side. Located next to our Climbing Wall is our Bouldering Wall, which stands 10 feet high and has 76 feet of climbing length. Campers of all ages enjoy the challenge and self-esteem-building that comes with conquering the Climbing Wall. Grips and holds are arranged so that climbers of all levels (from beginners to team climbers) have physical and mental growth experiences. Participants on the Climbing Wall are required to wear helmets.
High Ropes
Our High Ropes course is suspended 30-50 feet in the air and interlaces with a double-belay safety feature. With the assistance of specially trained staff, campers are tested physically and mentally with a series of elements. Tackling the High Ropes course gives campers a sense of accomplishment and a better understanding of who they are. Campers must be at least 12 years old to participate in this course. All staff and campers must wear a helmet and harness.
Low Ropes
Low Ropes help campers develop individual and teamwork skills, while participating in various elements, such as the Spider's Web, a 12-foot Team Wall, the Tarzan Swing, and the "Acid River". Various elements are suspended 2-3 feet off the ground. Continuing with our commitment to safety, campers who participate must wear a helmet.
Wilderness
All Camp Lincoln campers participate in a Wilderness Program to a certain degree. Just by living at camp, our campers learn to live comfortably and safely in our Northwoods environment. For those campers who are interested in furthering their outdoor skills, our Wilderness Program offers instruction in Compass Orienteering, Outdoor Cooking, Wilderness Safety, Shelter Construction, Canoeing, Kayaking, Tenting, Camping, and Fire Building.
Special Days
With all our activities and exciting Special Days, the fun at Camp Lincoln never stops! Our themed days infuse imagination and excitement into camp life, creating unforgettable memories for campers and staff alike. Plus, birthdays are celebrated in style with a special camp rendition of the birthday song and a delicious homemade cake shared with cabinmates. It's just one of the many ways we make every camper feel special during their time at camp.
