The Work Behind the Magic: Maintaining Camp Lincoln and Camp Lake Hubert
When we think about Camp Lincoln for Boys and Camp Lake Hubert for Girls, we think about creating memories, life lessons and kindness. There are full days and always big laughs. The sound of the bell gets campers moving from one activity to the next. But what makes all of that possible is the work we don't always see. Behind every smooth-running day at Camp Lincoln and Camp Lake Hubert is a dedicated maintenance team working quietly and consistently to keep both camps operating at its best.
Camp Lincoln and Camp Lake Hubert Property

Spanning more than 800 acres across both camps, our property includes over 90 buildings, nearly 200 toilets, countless docks, trails, roads, and program and special event spaces. It's considered a "small city in the woods," one that requires constant care, attention and special expertise.
Each year begins with an enormous undertaking:
- Preparing camp for the summer season
- Systems are carefully brought back online
- Water lines are checked and tested
- Pipes are inspected
- Every building is walked through, top to bottom
- Smoke detectors are tested
- Porch lights are repaired
- Screens are replaced so cabins remain comfortable and welcoming
The simple things like working sinks, functioning bathrooms, lights that turn on and doors that close properly are what allow camp life to run smoothly. And none of it happens by accident. Safety is a top priority. Across both properties steps are reinforced, railings are secured and fire safety systems are maintained. Beyond the buildings, the work continues as roads are cleared, trails are maintained, fallen branches are removed, docks are reinforced and boats are repaired. Cabins and gathering spaces are painted and refreshed, while vehicles and equipment are serviced to keep everything moving safely and efficiently. Every program area depends on this foundation.
The kitchen relies on fully functioning ovens, coolers, plumbing and electrical systems to serve hundreds of meals each day. Activity areas require safe, well-maintained structures and equipment. And when something needs attention, the maintenance team responds quickly, often before anyone else even notices.
Steady, year-round work handled with care and pride

Our campers come from over 40 states and 12 countries, forming a vibrant and diverse community. With more than 40 land and water activities spread across 120+ acres of program space, there's something here for everyone. But none of it would be possible without the infrastructure that supports it all.
When camp feels safe, beautiful, and comfortable, it's because a dedicated group of people is paying attention to every detail. Their work allows everyone else to focus on what truly matters: the fun, the friendships and the moments that make camp unforgettable.
So as we soak up the sun and enjoy all that both camps have to offer, we pause to say thank you. Thank you to our maintenance team—for the early mornings, the long days and the work that often goes unseen. Thank you for caring for this place and the people in it. Thank you for helping keep both camps a safe, beautiful and welcoming home away from home for campers, staff, alumni and guests.
